Job Description

Job Summary:

The Laboratory Assistant position is an entry-level position within an R&D team developing biological sensors for medical devices and other world-class innovative products that save people’s lives. The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for conducting electrochemistry and biochemistry experiments along with daily maintenance protocols. Duties & Responsibilities:

· Perform electrochemistry experiments and tests using a variety of lab equipment, such as potentiostat

· Assist in designing and planning experiments and coordinating experimental plans with other team members.

· Collaborate with other team members to develop ideas to continuously improve experimental designs and standard laboratory protocols.

· Document data appropriately and maintain accurate and thorough laboratory notes.

· Prepare stock solutions for project needs and research team requests.

· Maintain supplies and chemical inventory; create purchase orders, as needed.

· Keep track of equipment calibration records and perform calibrations if necessary.

· Maintain clean glassware, laboratory workspace, and equipment.

· Maintain a well-organized, clean, and safe working environment.

· Participate in protocol development and maintenance. Abide by these protocols and execute test reports.

· Understand and comply with all laws, regulations, and safety policies that apply to one's job, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and compliance at all times.

· Assist in other departments as needed and interact with and accept direction from multiple different team members in a highly matrixed group.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, preferably in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or Engineering Fields.

· 0-1 year experience in a scientific laboratory setting.

· Ability to perform calculations, use micropipettes, and weigh materials to prepare solutions.

· Ability to effectively manage multiple assigned tasks simultaneously.

· Ability to work independently with great attention to detail and organizational skills.

· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Familiarity with Python programming language and/or version control systems is a plus.

Physical requirements/Work Environment

A person hired for this position would primarily work in a laboratory environment, which requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May require standing for extended periods when conducting experiments, meetings, or walking within the facilities. Some local travel may be necessary, therefore, the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s license is required.
