The Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) collaborates with the physician to create and implement personalized care plans tailored to the patient's goals, utilizing manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and functional activities for both surgical and non-surgical conditions.
*Responsibilities: *
* Conduct thorough physical assessments, evaluate patients’ medical histories, and determine the extent of their physical impairments or injuries.
* Create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs, goals, and progress. Adjust plans as needed based on patient response and progress.
* Use a variety of therapeutic techniques, including exercise therapy, manual therapy, modalities (e.g., heat, cold, ultrasound), and assistive devices to help patients recover and improve physical function.
* Track and document patient progress, modifying treatment plans and interventions as necessary. Report progress to the healthcare team and make recommendations for continued care.
* Educate patients and their families on the treatment process, home exercises, and strategies to improve daily function and prevent injury or re-injury.
* Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, occupational therapists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, to ensure comprehensive care for the patient.
* Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with legal and ethical standards, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
* Offer guidance on injury prevention, posture correction, and lifestyle changes to help patients maintain their health and function in the long term.
* Stay current with professional knowledge and practices by participating in ongoing education and meeting state licensure requirements.
* Adheres to compliant billing practices, ensuring full compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.
* Oversee and supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Technicians.
* Participate in the instruction and evaluation of, and work with Therapy students.
* Communicating with supervisors, peers, or subordinates.
* Performing for or working directly with the public.
*Physical Demands:*
Frequently standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. Ability to pull, lift, carry, and push greater than 50lbs repetitively. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
*Education and Experience *
* Years of Experience: 1+ years of clinical experience in physical therapy is preferred
* Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy
* License, Certificate or Registration: Physical Therapist Virginia State License,
